Come to our first ever EKSR Book Club, featuring a short story, The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes mystery novels and stories. Synopsis on the story from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure_of_the_Beryl_Coronet. Tiaras are welcome but optional (Inez has a jewel box of them that you can borrow from for the evening). It is fun to read the story but please come even if you haven’t read it. John Bergquist, BSI, a member of the international Sherlock Holmes society, the Baker Street Irregulars, will give some background on the story, and anything else you’d like to know about Sherlock Holmes. You might know that the University of Minnesota Library has the largest collection of Sherlock Holmes materials in the country, including Empress Alexandra’s copy of the Hound of the Baskervilles, with her cipher on the red leather cover. Tours are available! Bring a snack to share. Wine (left over from the Christmas party), beer and soft drinks will be available. |
